Type: Equipment data acquisition
LEAF is an open-source, modular framework for extracting data and metadata from research equipment and transferring them via MQTT to a chosen endpoint. In this scenario, it represents the data-acquisition layer that captures operational equipment data close to the source. The exact adapters, endpoints and operational deployment should be confirmed by the WUR and IBISBA teams.

Manuals
- LEAF documentation - Overview, architecture and contribution information
Supporting software
- MQTT endpoint or broker - Used for transferring equipment data to a selected endpoint; the concrete setup depends on local deployment.
Scripts and workflows
- m-unlock GitLab - Open-source tools from WUR and UNLOCK, including FAIR-by-design tooling
Metadata and data standards
- Local equipment and experiment metadata conventions - To be specified by the WUR and IBISBA teams.
Integrations with other tools
- FAIR Data Station - Metadata captured in FAIR Data Station can be linked to equipment runs and generated data files.
- FAIRDOM-SEEK - Data and metadata generated during the experiment can be registered or published through FAIRDOM-SEEK-based platforms.
